Mesh Generation problem

Hi everyone,

I initiated a mesh generation using Star-ccm+. The mesh generation keeps running forever and never completes. I believe the expected element count should not be that colossal. Because, I have generated meshes of above 250 million cells in the past. So, I have an idea of how long it could take. I am generating the mesh on 1024 processes CPU. Each core with 32GB RAM.

The output is as below before the mesh generation suspends (or keeps running forever):

Checking mesh-CAD association...done. Found 8 problems, all fixed.

I will appreciate if someone could help me with how to fix this. Or has anyone encountered similar problem?

How do you know your mesh is not too big? Have you tried making it very coarse?

Hi, I later found out the problem was from the geometry. The surfaces had issues.
