Hello everyone, my name is Francesco and I am a new member of this forum. I am a graduate in Aerodynamics and for my thesis I am analyzing an AC75 from the latest america's cup. I did the modeling on CATIA and the geometry correction on ANSA.
I have correctly imported the geometry on STAR CCM +, I will reveal the details of the simulation cases to you later. The first question is the following: from the geometry there are some free edges in correspondence of the headsail which necessarily, before setting the mesh, I will have to eliminate but I am having difficulty; how can i do it? I am attaching a photo of the model and thank you in advance for your help

Just out of curiosity, have you tried automatic surface repair?

Yes, I tried, but it didn't help. There are always the blue and green elements to fix. With the repair tool I fixed the poor quality surfaces but otherwise nothing to do. What do you suggest?

It looks like the headsail is a shell (not solid) body. Is that correct?

Hi everyone, fortunately I solved the problem using the "create a buffle" command directly on the headsail; in doing so I closed the surface and eliminated the free edges. Now I have to set up the regions and their physical models in salt water and air and then do the mesh. If I need help I'll write here, thanks
