I have come some ways in doing the viscous fingering simulation, but we seem to be getting these sharp spiky fingers instead of the more subtle ones we expect ..
We are pondering what the permeability is, and we do not know how StarCCM+ sets permeability by itself. There is no explicit option to set permeability Can anyone here shed some light on how StarCCM+ sets permeability? I have attached 2 snaps, one for the options we have invoked, other showing the spiky fingers we think are troublesome Thanks! Saumik |

When considering a porous medium, Star-CMM is looking for resistance values, not permeability. Resistance being the inverse of permeability, and vise-versa.
In your first image, there are two values you show as 0 labeled as porous inertial and viscous resistance. This may be what you are looking for, but I have never tried to approach this particular problem so I am speculating somewhat. |
