Hello,

I am a new user of star-CCM+. Currently I am modeling a rotating passage. What I did is using the "moving reference frame" option and apply the rotating properties for entire region. The inlet condition is mass inlet plus "normal to boundary surface". When I checked the result, on the wall, the relative velocity is zero and absolute velocity is omega*R, which are correct.

However, the inlet B.C. seems wield. Its absolute velocity is normal to boundary surface while its relative velocity includes the rotating speed. It seems to me that only the wall rotates while all the B.C. surfaces still stay stationary and do not rotate.

I guess that I must missed something and wonder if anyone can help with it.

Thanks & regards,
Sangrar

Hello Sangrar,

I'm a new one in Star-CCM+ to. My problem has some similar things with yours. I want to simulate a ball (cylinder) which rotates in the fluid. But I haven't completed it yet. Can you show me more detail about the regions which you used in your simulation? and tell me step by step to do it.
Thanks alot!

Thanks. I will try it. It seems that the "moving reference frame" option can not allow a relative velocity normal to the boundary surface in a rotating frame.

What I did is to use the "moving reference frame" and then set the rotating properties for the entire region. But it seems not correct on boundaries.

what do u mean by set the properties for the entire region , cuz what i see there is only one property under region(physical values)..
any advised please

thanx
