Hello Everyone,

I am working on a conjugate heat transfer analysis. I have a solid tank insulated and it has to maintain its temperature to some defined value. The heat source here is heater. I am trying to model this but I am coming up with multiple errors.

Does anyone here has any tutorials related to CHT analysis that I can study to do my case?

Also I was wondering if anybody can help me out to define proper boundary conditions fr this problem. Rest I can figure out and will work on it. Please help me out in setting up the model in STAR-CCM+.

Appreciate your time.

Regards,
Chirag

Go to Help -> Tutorial Guide. They have a few tutorials in there that will help you out.

The only thing most people have tutorial wise would be cd-adapco property, I believe. They do offer an "Effective Heat Transfer" class.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have did gone through the CHT tutorial from cd-adapco tutorial guide. They have 2D mesh. I am looking for something in 3D. Thanks anyways for your time and concern. I appreciate it.

Chirag

the "Dual Stream Heat Exchanger"and "Surface to Surface Radiation" tutorials are 3D. They are under the "Heat Transfer and Radiation" category

The principles in 2D are pretty much the same as in 3D. Boundary condition etc. is specified in exactly the same way. Only the mesh is different and one physics model (2D instead of 3D). So when you get the 2D case to work, you should also be capable to get the 3D case to work and vice versa.

A 2D case offers a big advantage: It's faster than a 3D case. So when you're just playing around to get familiar with CHT, it might be good to stick to a 2D case.

Thank you so much Abdul. Yes I did go over to all the types of tutorials. But currently the error that I am facing is with the meshing. The error says that the surface definition is not correct for fluid and solid region. I dont know why it is saying me this. I check my surface remesh , it looks fine, but when I do my volume mesh, it pops up with this error. Do you know how to resolve this error?

Maybe, but for that, I need more information. Please post some screenshots and a detailed description of the steps you performed so far.
