I'd like to start either a prism layer or an extruded mesh within my domain, not on a boundary. Ideally, I would create a boundary that was 'invisible' and then use this to create my desired mesh.

This is simlar in concept to how you would use a volumetric shape to make the grid finer in a particular region.

Is it possible to create such a boundary or similar? For example, I have been experimenting with volumetric shapes, but with no success.

All the best,

try setting a wall for that boundary, mesh it, then change the boundary to something else?
