Hi,

Does anybody know the best model for analysis in the following cases?

1.- Free surface (no waves) analysis for ship resistance (viscous and wave-making)
2.- Free surface (waves) analysis for ship resistance ( added, viscous and wave-making)

For the second case the tutorial recommends 6-DOF with VOF but I do not want to analyze the ship movements in the first case so please recommends me a list of models to select.

Thanks!

I think for the first case you only need VOF, all other models are just normal models for CFD analysis.
For the second one, you might need VOF+Morphor+6-DOF

I am looking for a model for Free surface (no waves) analysis for ship resistance (viscous and wave-making).
Do I need to set the 6DOF?
Please I would appreciate some help.
Thanks

depend on the results that you want to know you can use 0 degree of freedom or 6-DOF. if you want to calculate drag in a specific speed you can handle the case considering it as a stationary body, but if you want to determine resistance-velocity curve or in cases you want to know how ship moves when it gradually speeds up you need to make a 6-DOF simulation.
cheers
