Learning star ccm+

Hello folks, I am new to this forum and wanted to know how to learn and get in depth knowledge about star ccm+ software. I am a fresher Aeronautical engineering wanted to make career as CFD engineer, as there are so many different softwares being used for variety of CFD applications, I am curious to know how can I learn them. Do i need to get certification from respective companies like Fluent or CD-adapco in order to get job where thier respective softwares are used ?

Hi dude,

do you have any experience with CFD? If not, is is strongly recommanded to do a course! CFD in general is a wonderful tool for experienced engineers, but dangerous if used by people who don't know what they are doing.

The easiest (but expensive) way would be to make a training at the nearest CD-adapco office. You will get a lot of useful hints and you can learn from the people who have to know a lot about the software.

If you don't have the money to do that, you can work through the tutorials, but don't expect to get too far. You will maybe know the basics how to set up a simulation, but you will never get expertise with doing just some tutorials.
Big problems are the complexity of the software and how to solve the problems you will get for sure. If you don't have somebody who can help you with that, you will be desperate within only a short time.

A certificate is not neccessary for all jobs. I know some people who got their jobs without a certificate, but it may depend on the company and maybe on the country you want to work.
At least, a certificate is a proof that you know the basics of a software and the potential employer doesn't have to pay for a basic training. It may give you an advance against other job candidates.

Thanks a lot for your kind reply, well I dont have any exprience with any of the CFD software, infact being a fresher engineer I dont even know much about specific role of the particular CFD tool. Actually I planning to do course in CFD which will cover all aspects about the subject, there is one institute in Pune known as CCTEch (http://www.cctech.co.in/index.htm) they provide 6 months course in CFD known as DACFD (Diploma in Advanced CFD), covering following syllabus : http://www.cctech.co.in/training/dac...FDsyllabus.htm can you please go through their syllabus link and let me know how good it is for a fresher like me ? also can I get job into CFD field after completing this course ? I dont know anyone from this filed and hence seek proper guidance actually.

I'm sorry for the late response. I've been away for a long time and had a lot to do...
It seems, the course will cover all important topics, and I'm sure, it will be a good basis for the future. However, I can't tell you anything about the knowledge you will gather with this course. Six month is not enough to get very deep, but if it's full-time, it could be enough for for a first employement. But it depends on the employer and its requirements...
