Boundary Layer Question

Hello,

I am using Star CCM+ 5.04 and I am trying to simulate a boundary layer over a flat plate with a wedge in the middle. I would like to have an accurate simulation of the boundary layer and how to build the boundary layer. I see that I have to input the height of the boundary layer and the number of layers but I really don't know what the real boundary layer would look like if I built the model and put it in a wind tunnel.

Can anyone offer any insight into how one goes about selecting these parameters?

Thanks
Scott

I would setup an initial arbitrary mesh, sun the simulation, look at what's happening to the flow, then remesh accordingly depending on what flow structure develops where.

An arbitrary mesh for where I think the boundary layer is? I have a mesh for the overall flow volume. Would I turn on the prism layer and define arbitrary thickness and number of layers?

Thanks
Scott

Yes, start with a few prism layers covering the edges and intersections of the wedge and the plate, then add or refine the prism layers as necessary.
