can star-ccm low version open prior version's file?

can i use star ccm+ 4.04 open the 5.08's file? is there a way to achieve that?

There are two indirect ways to solv this. There is no way you can open a new file in a older version, but you can download starview to view scene files or you can export the mesh, setup the simulation and run over again in the old version.

will work only for volume mesh...not surface mesh.

This works fine for imported, geometry and remeshed surface. Although exporting remeshed surface and import geometry must be done under the representation tab. I am unsure how to best export volume mesh, but I am sure that i possible to!
