Hello,
I have been recently working with STAR-CCM+. The 3D meshing tools available are good but unfortunately the generation of a 2D mesh is quite painful and there is no way for you to generate the mesh you have in mind since everything is automated. Does anybody know if there is a free code available out there compatible with STAR-CCM+ that can easily generate a 2D mesh? I'm looking for a Gambit-like type of code that runs on windows and that allows you to control the number of nodes and their spacing on the edges of the geometry. Thanks! cfd_chicago_analyst |

Thanks for your input. As far as I understood, I would need Tecplot to use gridpro.....we do not have it here, that is why I'm looking for a open source or free code...

There is an Ubuntu distribution which contains a lot of different free CAE softwares. I know, it includes some meshing tools too, but I'm not sure any of there will meet your requirements (too long ago I had a look on it).
Just look on www.caelinux.com. There is a live-version you can try directly from dvd without having to install it. Let us know whether it works or not. |

I looked at the website and, even if it does not work, caelinux seems to be definetely a good thing to have!!! However, I will try and and let you know.....
Thanks! |
