airfoil coordinates / vertex data
Hi all,
Is it possible to import coordinate data for using in skecther in CCM+? Or how do you do it when you need to skecth from many points? Regards |
Currently importing vertex coordinates doesn't work, but some people already complained about that. I don't know whether the guys at CD-adapco will implement it soon, but at least they know about this issue.
I haven't tried it, but what about writing a macro which puts the points for your spline and connects them? The macro could read the coordinates from a csv file. |
Hi abdul,
As you suggest, I had to write a macro to do that. Notes: The macro reads and imports points onto a specific plane. So the vertex data has to be cartesian 2D. However I don't know if it is possible to import 3D vertex data. Regards |
Reading 3D points depends on your data. What you could do is to create several planes and a spline on each of this planes. Then you could create an element (Not sure if it's a loft or a sweep, I usually mix it up :D) using all of this splines an changing it's shape while travelling along its length.
What you can't do is to import arbitrary points on the surface and create a body from this since the 3D CAD-modeller is just a simple tool compared to a dedicated CAD program. |
Thank you. Creating dedicated planes for each vertex is a good idea to import 3D data.
