Does anyone know of a way to load a previously computed solution onto a mesh?
I'd like to use a macro to run simulations with a range of parameters, but have each simulation initialized by the same steady solution. Thanks, Ryan

Try doing
1) File->Export and exporting your selected values to a CCM file 2) reimport them via File->Import Volume Mesh. 3) set up a data mapper (Tools->Data Mappers) to transfer the data between regions. 4) Set up a field function to set the initial conditions to the mapped values (i.e. set the Initial Temperature to equal Mapped Temperature) |

Also, if you have the new version (7.02) you might try looking at Solution Histories. I have not yet had a chance to play with it or read about them, but it might be able to accomodate what you are wanting to do

I followed your steps, and it actually worked. But the problem is, it can work only once. I mean, after I appiled the field function as initial condition and ran the case for some steps, I cleared the solution(due to other problems), and tried to remap again. However, an error "the field function is not built on the region" came out. Do you know what's wrong? Thanks! |

You can use a table when the mesh size is not too large. It works pretty fine, but can need a large amount of memory when the table is too large.
As far as I know, solution history is not yet able to provide initialization values.

Hi,
I used your method of exporting a ccm file and importing the volume mesh to a new sim file. Can you advise on what kind of data mapper to use to map between regions? I am not getting the solution data I want to map come up in the scalar or vector field functions dialog box. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Sam Hill |
