Exact point in convergence
I have a basic doubt regarding the phenomenon of convergence.
I have read that it is the process where a numerical solution starts approaching an definite point(exact solution). The difference between these represents the residuals but what exactly is that definite point? How is the solver finding that exact point for a given problem?

In CFD , for solving the partial differential equation of the phenomenon ,we discretize the equations and get some algebraic equations which can be solved by iterative methods.
these equations can be represented in a matrix equation like Ax=b.
So in each iteration we get the values for (x) .Then Putting these (x)s in the general equation like: r=Ax-b gives us the error which i think you asked about that.
