Dear Users
I am interested in knowing wall temperature which is defined as default adiabatic wall. If i load wall data ( without smoothing) and look into post register there exists cell numbers for which temperature loaded in register 4 is zero, if I plot these cells and see, these cell numbers are different and there exists a certain scalar value on that. My doubt is when i load wall data star-cd is creating shells, why it is for? Thanks in advance BalBo |

When you load wall information (using getw) Prostar creates shells on your model. These shells are on the boundaries, symm planes, etc. The wall information gets presented using these shell elements. It's just a way for the software to present surface based data on the volume grid.
When you did getw temp then looked at post register 4 & saw cells with zero value, those zero valued cells should be the original fluid cells. The cells with non-zero value are the temporary shells created at the wall boundaries. The clrw command will remove the wall cells. If you don't remove them, they will get saved with your model. |

Dear Pauli
Well thanks for the information. I am trying to export the values present in the post register, and I can easily do this. As you said there exists zero valued cells, so how can I eliminate these zero value cells and its scalar value while exporting. Basically i will use this informtion for mapping the results on to thermal mesh in thermal solver. Thanks & Regards Balbo |

Before you export, build a cell set containing just the boundary faces you desire.
The exact commands will depend upon your model. It may be as simple as "cset dele fluid". |
