Hello dear ANSYS users,
My name is Diogo and I'm modeling a cable-stayed bridge in Mechanical APDL with beam and cable elements. For that I'll be using beamm188 and link180 elements. At this time, I can already set Nodes, Elements, Materials, Types of elements, Sections, forces, and condition boundaries. But the problem is that I don't understand how the real constants work and what are they for. I read in the help topics, googled, etc., but I still can't make this work. Can someone please help me understand it? Thanks in advance, Diogo. PS- After getting this done, I'll have to set the type of connections of a few nodes where I'll release some Degrees of Freedom. |

I found that, for link180 elements, there's no need to give it a secdata. The real constant already asks for the area, assuming the elements as cylinders.
