I am a beginner in ANSYS program. I wonder if that is possible to choose only a circle in the bottom surface of this simple boat instead an choosing all the bottom surface. I am trying to define the weight (load of the person standing) as a small circle effect in the surface. I know only to choose surface, edge and point but i want to choose a circle that in the bottom. I attach the picture of the program.

You would need to define the area (circle) in CAD, then put them in a multibody part get a node conformal mesh and avoid needing to set a contact. It's straight forward to split the area out in ANSYS DesignModeler, then you can assign the required load to the circle.

hi basharf: you could creat a cylinder at the bottom of the boat in the DM and set the radius of the cylinder as you need.then build a part conclude the boat and the cylinder. In the Mechanical, suppress the cylinder.the contact region is the circle. |

Hello basharf,
I don't know if you solved the problem, but I see the others didn't give you the best answer. You can create the circle you want in the following way: 1. go to XZ plane and create a new sketch; in here create the circle with the radius you want; put the center of the circle in the x and z according with the person location. 2. go to modeling and extrude the circle; it is not important the direction or distance; hit Generate. 3. go to Menu>Tools>Projection and here choose edges on surfaces; select one edge of the cylinder and the surface of the boat; Generate; this will split a surface on the bottom of the boat, but not create different bodies. 4. suppress the cylinder; from this point you are able to select the surface in Mechanical to apply the weight. Hope this helped.
