I am a bit confused about the total deformation and directional deformation that I have obtained from Ansys Structural. The total deformation value outnumbers the directional deformation by a huge margin. However I am still not convinced by the deformations. So which has a better say in Structural Mechanics study whether total deformation or directional deformation? And if I represent my results does directional deformation still stands as it is quite small than the total deformation. Hopefully somebody can clarify me asap.
Thanks in advance.
