Transient Structural results; exporting pictures
 
Hi everyone,

I performed ANSYS Transient Structural analysis with 108 timesteps. I want to export a contour of Total Deformation for the every timestep, without loading results for 108 times and making pictures individually. Moreover, I have to set the same legend for every picture. Is there any possibility to do this? I saw that making journal file, as in Fluent, doesn't work here.

I know that I can make an animation (video) for the entire simulation time, and then make print screens, but it is some nonsense.

Hi Marcin,

You have 2 options. The first one is quite a bit easier than the 2nd one. I would simply import your .rst file in CFD-post, insert a contour or field variable you want to export. If you want to have the same legend over all time steps you can specify upper and lower bounds switching from Global to User Specified. Next you need to create an animation > Animation and select Timestep Animation. Under Advanced Frame Selection Controls > expand the tab > Check “Save Movie” and then click on the “Options”. The Animation Options window will open and there you can specify the output format, and under the advanced tab you can select > Save Frames As Image Files > specify the output directory. Then you’re done ;)

The other option is to post-process the .rst file in Mechanical and insert a command snippet, then make a do loop to load sequentially the load step, then use nsol and /show, png to export an image to the drive. You also need to specify the reverse video if you want to have a white background and not the black default of APDL.

Thank you for the answer, I have already done this in CFD Post - when I was writing my query, I didn't know that it will be possible to use CFD Post.
