ANSYS Mechanical automatic shutdown

Hi everyone,

is there a way to automate the saving and shutdown of Ansys Mechanical/Workbench once the solver is done calculating (either successfully or not)?

Most of the times I leave my simulations running for the entire afternoon/night or during the weekend and it would be nice to find a way to automatically shut Ansys down so to leave the license available to other colleagues again.

I was looking for ACT scripts, macros, APDL commands but i didn't find anything. Any tip?

Hello Lyra,

This is absolutely possible. There are different options that you could follow.

I usually have a small python script listing the different WB project I want to solve, and a .bat file that start WB.exe and passing the "list of argument" from the .py file. Check the API / scripting documentation in the help as it may change between versions from Ansys.

Here is an easy way:

Write the solver input file to a working directory from workbench.
Close workbench.
Open APDL, and solve your input file in batch mode.
