Hi All,
I am trying to simulate the wheel rolling on the surface using Ansys Rigid Body Dynamica (RBD), I have defined the frictionless contact between wheel and the ground and revolute joint between the wheel center and the hub and also defined the gravity in a downward direction. From the solution results I have observed that the wheel in not rolling on the ground insted it is sliding and in RBM there is no option to define the frictional contact under contacts, the other option available is forced sliding. Can some one please help me to resolve this issue. Regards, Sunil

Ansys RBD lacks frictional contact. Try applying torque, using forced sliding with velocity constraints, or switching to flexible dynamics for rolling motion.

Hi ryrose,
Thanks for your reply. The actual problem I am trying to solve is related to cart which has four swivel caster wheels. Will be applying the force on the top handle of the cart to generate the motion. I cant apply the torque to the wheel since it should be the resutant of applied force. Can you please tell more about the forced sliding with velocity constraints, the other one with flexible dynamics I will explore.
