Hello,
I am trying to simulate two hollow pipes, that touch at 1 face, under the influence of a constant temperature field, for a designated amout of time. I would like to achieve a transient result, where I can observe the expansion the pipes experience. Main concern is two pipes are made out of different materials. For example steel and aluminum. The Question is: In solids4foam it is possible to define the mechanical propeties for two different materials and assign them to geometries. However I am not able to figure out, how to assign different thermal properties for different materials.
If you have a solution for it I would be glad to hear. With kind regards |

Yes, in solids4foam, you can give each pipe its own thermal properties (like thermal conductivity and expansion) — even if they are made of different materials like steel and aluminum.
To do this:): Make sure each pipe is a separate solid region (like "pipe1" and "pipe2"). In each region’s folder (constant/pipe1/ and constant/pipe2/), add a file called thermophysicalProperties. In that file, you can set different thermal values for each material. Just like you set different mechanical properties, you do the same for thermal ones — but in the right folder for each pipe ;). |
