Hi
I'm totally new to SU2 and I encountered this problem when building SU2 from the source.
Screenshot from 2018-02-18 17-46-36.jpg

I was just following the instructions from github :

"To build SU2 from the source code, just open a terminal and run the './configure', 'make', and 'make install' commands in the root directory of the source distribution."

But in the './configure' step, the terminal gave me this message:
configure: error: cannot find python-config for /usr/bin/python.

Could anyone help me?
Thanks

Installing python-devel on OpenSUSE Thumbleweed solved that issue.

Hi friends, I also meet this problem. Have you fix it? I install the python-config but still not ok.

Hi James, I've fixed it by using this command (If I'm not mistaken):

./configure --with-PYTHON=/path/to/PythonInterpreter.

Actually you can take a look at ./configure --help
Maybe it could help you.

best regards,
Ghifari

Hi, Ghifari,

Could you explain a bit more on python interpreter? I'm using a cluster with python preinstalled. I am not sure where to find the path, neither do I have the right to install with yum.

Regards
Juntao

Hi Juntao,

I believe you can list your loaded environment modules on the cluster and check for your python module. This is achieved by typing "module list" in your terminal window.
Once you've identified the python package name, you can run "module show" in conjunction with the python module name to get the library and bin paths. For example "module show python/2.7.14"

If python isn't loaded, you can load it first by typing "module avail" and finding the python package you want. Then "module load *module name*".

Hope this helps.
