Errors in install new version.
I had installed the 6.2.0 version on cluster, which is offline. Now I need the new version, and I try to install 7.2.1, I try to use the ./configure.ac to install, but it reports error.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ./configure.ac: line 38: syntax error near unexpected token `[SU2],' ./configure.ac: line 38: `AC_INIT([SU2], [6.2.0], [su2code-dev@lists.stanford.edu],' -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How can I install the new version? Can I update the old one by replace some files or just install the new one. |
To install the newest version of SU2:
(I assume that you already install all dependency, like git, g++,c++python3, openmpi) 1. Download SU2 from github: $git clone https://github.com/su2code/SU2.git 2. configuration : $ cd SU2 $./meson.py build -Denable-autodiff=true -Dwith-mpi=enabled --prefix=/home/yan/CFD/ (path for SU2) 3. after configuration, it will output the following info: export SU2_RUN=/home/yan/CFD/bin export SU2_HOME=/home/yan/CFD/SU2 export PATH=$PATH:$SU2_RUN export PYTHONPATH=$PYTHONPATH:$SU2_RUN copy them in bashrc file (vim ~/.bashrc and source ~/.bashrc) 4. compile SU2: $./ninja -C build install -j4 (with 4 cores) Done. See SU2 homepage for more info: https://su2code.github.io/docs_v7/Bu...2-Linux-MacOS/ |
Problems in installation and tutorials.
I had installed the 7.5.1 version by the code SU2-v7.5.1-linux64-mpi, but when I try the inviscid_Bump tutorials, it comes to two questions.
1. The iterations is disordered. 2.It can't open the restart_flow.dat. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Error in "bool CFileWriter::OpenMPIFile(std::string)": ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unable to open file restart_flow.dat ------------------------------ Error Exit ------------------------------- What leads to these problems? The case or the installation? |
It seems that you are running the simulation with 'RESTART_SOL = YES'.
Can you try to set 'RESTART_SOL = NO' and run simulation? Also, it is better if you can share your config and mesh file here. |
That's the problem. I set RESTART_SOL= NO. And my Configuration is the same as the tutorials.

Are you sure you are trying inviscid_bump tutorial?
From your config file, you are running the tutorial case: 'compressible flow/laminar flat plate' Just go SU2 homepage: https://su2code.github.io/tutorials/Laminar_Flat_Plate/ download the config file and mesh, it should work. Make sure that you are using SU2_CFD from latest version of SU2. You can use command: $ which SU2_CFD for confirmation. |
Sorry, I'm confused. I have tried two tutorials and comes to the same questions. And I'm sure that I had installed the 7.5.1, but the iteration steps is disordered. And it shows
Error in "bool CFileWriter::OpenMPIFile(std::string)": ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unable to open file restart_flow.dat ------------------------------ Error Exit ------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- Primary job terminated normally, but 1 process returned a non-zero exit code. Per user-direction, the job has been aborted. ------------------------------------------------------- |
Strange problem.
If you install SU2 correctly, you should not have this issue. Try to remove SU2 and reinstall again. Remember to update your bashrc file. Or let us see whether other people have any idea about your issue. |
