Is that possible to mapping the mesh with predefined FFD control points in mesh file?

Hi,

Recently I'm try to use the SU2_DEF to generate mesh include FFD information which needed by the shape design script of SU2. The version of the the SU2 is 3.21(Due to some reason our server is in Windows...3.21 is the last version I manage to compile in Windows).

In some cases, when the curvature of geometry is high, there will be big gaps between the FFD box which defined by the corner points and the control points from liner iteration of them and the surface needed to be mapping. In this condition, the subject functions/constraints are insensitive to the coordinates of those control points far away from the surface need to be designed and the optimizer tend to give a big change in the coordinate which may lead to a weird change in the surface in my test case.

As a result, I am wondering if we can define control points in the mesh file by ourselves instead of using the control points computed by the SU2?

One of the FFD box I'm trying to use in shape design is attached.

Xianguu,

At the moment that feature is not available for 3D. One workaround for this is to increase the resolution of the FFD boxes and place them tighter to the body so the effect of the box parameters is higher on the surface.

If you think this is a feature that you would like to implement in the code we will certainly welcome it!
