Hello,
I am simulating flow payload fairing in SU2 (with region of interest as boat-tail). My parameter of interest is separation distance in the boat-tail region, which is a result of flow separation over the boat-tail. While doing simulation in CFD++, the separation distance is calculated by considering the x-direction shear-stress (which can be selected to be calculated along with other flow variables). I have assumed the separation distance as the distance within which the sign of x-direction shear-stress changes, i.e. change in u (x-direction velocity) with respect to y + change in v (y-direction velocity) with respect to x . Is this a correct way of quantifying the flow separation? So, the issue in my case is that the components of stress are evaluated but not written in the output files. I would like to ask if anybody tried printing some parameter (other than those already printed) in surface_flow.* file. While going through the .cpp files of SU2_CFD module, I have come across a file named solver_direct_mean.cpp containing a variable called Grad_Vel (which contains derivatives of components of velocity) can also be used to determine the extent of separation. To get the extent of separation, how can we print the components of Grad_Vel in surface_flow solution? Any kind of help will be appreciated.
