Hi, new to SU2...
I'm interested in using SU2 to simulate an air and water system with heat transfer. Similar to the Fluidyne Engine shown here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluidy...k_fluidyne.svg

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...uidyne.svg.png

Is this at all possible using SU2 withour extending the software?

Kind regards,

So the air column is right on top of the water column and the water is in liquid form? So the end result is that the air-water interface will stay where it is and water and air will not mix?

The fluid-fluid interface in a multizone approach will be diffusive, so in the long term, the air and the water will become strongly mixed. We do not have an interface tracking method like VOF or a way to limit diffusion over a gas-liquid interface.

You could maybe set this up in a multizone/CHT setup. You separate the 2 fluids using a thin solid wall with a high conductivity. In that way, there will not be any diffusion of species across the interface, only conduction of heat.

Here is a multizone example of 2 different species:

Yes, no mixing is required to be simulated. I'll check that thanks...
