Hi,
I 'm a new user of SU2. I have saw the paper about SU2 in AIAA. I saw there is a wave equation (FW-H) in SU2. I want to use SU2 to do the aerodynamic noise simulation. But there is no tutorial about noise analysis. Would you please give me a tutorial about aerodynamic noise ? thanks zhereal |

Hi zhereal,
Thanks for your interest in SU2, and I'm glad that you saw the paper! The aeroacoustic components in SU2 are currently in the research stage (we don't have a tutorial available at the moment), but if you are interested in more detail, please see the following paper: http://adl.stanford.edu/papers/AIAA-2012-5598.pdf. Also, feel free to investigate the wave equation solver that can be found in solution_direct_wave.cpp. All the best, Tom |

Thank you economon for the reply. Next, I will see solution_direct_wave.cpp and the paper you recommended. Thx
Cheers, Zhereal. |

Has there been any progress in this since 2012?
I'm interested in far-field noise computations, specifically for propellers. If I saved surface pressures on the blades at every n time-steps during a rigid body, unsteady, navier stokes simulation, how would I use these to propagate pressures to a desired location and get a noise spectrum using the overlapping grid method? The paper mentions loading and thickness noise. Is there a broadband noise implementation too? To be more direct, I'm interested in something similar to what WOPWOP does, while making use of the adjoint optimization capability of SU2. Thanks. p.s. I also want a purple unicorn. It's that time of the year again. |

Hello Nomad,
Have you had any progress in terms of how to apply the wave equation solver in SU2 for the solution of the FWH equations? I am also interested in finding the noise or the acoustic pressure at a surface enclosing a jet stream coming out of a nozzle. I would really appreciate if you could please guide me if you can. Thank you!! Quote:

Hi, Have you found how to apply this FWH in SU2 solver? I am doing the same nozzle stuff, so just wondering if you were able to find the way to get it? Thank you in advance for help |
