Should I be using SU2?

I am trying to figure out flow dynamics inside a closed cylinder with an inlet and outlet pipe attached to it. The boundaries are inlet, outlet (at one end of each pipe) and wall (pipe walls, cylinder walls). There is no sufficiently far boundary that can be defined as a free-stream boundary.

As far as I can tell (from the tutorials), free-stream boundaries are an essential part of the problem definition/setup (consistent with the code being developed for Aeronautics etc). Am I correct in this conclusion? If yes, is there a work around I could use to adapt SU2 for my needs? If no, is there some advice/documentation/an example cfg file I could use?

Also, I am working at a pressure range ~ 1e2-1e3 Pa range - Reynolds number and Knudsen number do put me in a viscous flow regime. Any caveats regarding SU2 use.

Thanks.

Dear Ritwit,

Despite there is not a particular tutorial about this, SU2 counts on a Riemann invariant based implementation of the inflow and outflow boundary conditions that are very appropriate in the kind of internal flows that you are describing.

I think that SU2 fits very well in your application. Futhermore, this post

could be useful for you in order to take a final decision.

Best,
Francisco
