Dear all,

I'm beginning to use SU2 and I saw that in the future versions there will be a transition model. Anyway, I'm wondering to know if it is possible to set as Boundary Markers a flag like MARKER_NS_LAM and MARKER_NS_TURB.
In this way, running RANS simulations it would be possible to fix the transition point.

Best regards

We are currently performing the V&V of the transition model. If you are interested in helping us with this validation/development we can give you some references and show you where the main transition code is. We are looking forward for open-source community contributions.

Best Regards,
Francisco

I' m interested in the verification and development of transition prediction models. Now I'm in the final step of my PhD so I'm quite busy, anyway
if you link me the references I will begin to read them and assess how I can help you.

Best regards,
Donato

Hi Francisco,
Its good to know that the transition model is progressing, what test cases are you validating? Are you considering the ERCOFTAC T3A flat plate test case too (simple but quite a good validation test case)
Reference: Roach, P.E. & Briley, D.H. (1990). “The influence of a turbulent free stream on zero pressure gradient transitional boundary layer development. Part 1: testcases T3A and T3B”. Cambridge University Press..
