incompressible DNS

Hi,

I am wondering if SU2 is capable to do some DNS for incompressible flow. I read something online and found that the incompressible model is based on the articifial compressibility (valid for steady state). Does it mean that the solver can not deal with unsteady problem like the Von Karman wall street problem after a cylinder?

However, I found a case in the test_cases files of a cylinder at Re=60. It seems controversary from all these informations gathered online. Anybody knows some details about this?

By the way, can we use SU2_EDU to do incompressible DNS for unsteady flow?

Thank you

Thank you for your interest in SU2.
SU2 is a finite-volume based CFD solver. This is significantly different from DNS, which may be why this seems confusing. Unsteady simulations are possible with SU2, unfortunately we do not have any current tutorials on this subject. If you need an example of unsteady cases, I encourage you to explore the TestCases/Unsteady_* folders.
Steady solutions can be computed on physically unsteady problems, you can consider it as a mean flow.
