Hi,

I'm attempting to use SU2 to do a free-form airfoil shape optimization for a wind turbine blade using Kulfan parameters. The problem that I am having is that I need a method to automatically generate the .su2 mesh file based on the airfoil coordinates that I obtain from the input of my Kulfan parameters. I know this is possible because this is what appears to be done in the educational version (SU2_EDU). I am currently using a third-party software called Construct2D to automatically generate the meshes in .p3d and then convert to .su2. The problem is that when I compute the adjoint gradients with this mesh it always gives me a gradient of 0 for all the design variables. Basically, is there a code that I could use to automatically generate the .su2 mesh with the input of an airfoil coordinate file? Thank you very much for your time.

Could use gmsh seeing as there's a script to convert the mesh format to su2. It's in the Meshtools/Fortran folder on github. Haven't used it myself though.

Or you could try to use one of the ready made su2 aerofoil meshes and deform it to match your aerofoil using SU2_DEF/MDC. You have to supply the surface deformations which you could get from the kulfan parameterisation. Requires some tinkering of the code however
