Axisymmetric Boundary condition

Hello,
I have tried a simulation for an axisymmetric body in SU2, but it seems the axisymmetric doesn't work well in SU2 v3.2.8. I have also used one of the mentioned options in the forum itself for the setting the axisymmetric boundary condition, which are:
AXISYMMETRIC = YES
SOUR_NUM_METHOD_FLOW= PIECEWISE_CONSTANT

But the simulation terminates with the message of either termination due to non-physical points or absurd values of C_l and C_d as -10000 and 10000 respectively. Any kind of help will be appreciated.
Is there a problem with the definition of axisymmetric boundary condition ?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Mohit,

Have you tried to run a very simple case such as an inviscid supersonic wedge (to see the 3D relieving effect of the axisymmetry)? This may help determine the issue further. There is a 2D mesh in the test cases folder that might be useful for this.

To be clear, the axisymmetric mode in SU2 is meant to be run in pure 2D mode, and it is source term-based, meaning that we add a source term in each cell of the grid during integration, as opposed to applying a boundary condition to a particular marker.

Hope this helps,
Tom

Hello Sir,
First of all, thanks for your reply and apology for delay in my reply. I will try that case (inviscid supersonic wedge) as guided by you and get back to you if I encounter any issue.

Hello Sir,
Ignore the previous post as it was incomplete and First of all, thanks for your reply and apology for delay in my reply. I will try that case (inviscid supersonic wedge) as guided by you and get back to you if I encounter any issue.It will be very helpful to understand the axisymmetry condition if you could elaborate its meaning as source based term.
