Multiple motions of a body in fluid flow

1 Attachment(s)
greetings everyone, i am trying an incompressible case of a 2D airfoil performing a pitching Plunging and forward motion. It is a free flight wing motion of an insect which is flapping its wing, find attached image to understand the motion. please help me in understanding the boundary conditions and the method to mention this motions in the cfg file.

Also i am conducting experiments to understand the kinematics more precisely and plan to use cubic regression for obtaining the parametric equation for all position coordinates. What i am doing here is obtaining a function for the motion of airfoils movement in terms of time for all the position in terms of 'X' 'Y' 'Z' and roll, pitch, yaw and torsional angle. My doubt is whether this parametric function can be enabled to the moving boundary condition of SU2

if interested in collaborating contact me on amit.a.pawar@live.com as-well.

Hi Amit,

This sounds like a great (and ambitious) problem, and I am glad to hear about your interest in using SU2.

I should note that the incompressible solver in SU2 has mostly been used for steady problems on fixed grids. The compressive solver contains just about all of the features that you will need, and some of this can be ported to the incompressible solver.

While it will take a little work, I think that having more development on an ALE solver (for unsteady calculations on dynamic grids) for the incompressible solver would be wonderful. If you have the time, forking the code and starting some work on this on GitHub would be ideal, and we would be happy to help you where we can (and hopefully integrate successfully back into the main repository).

Hope this helps,
Tom
