Can anyone tell me the difference between using the options TIME_STEPPING and DUAL_TIME_STEPPING for UNSTEADY_SIMULATION in the configuration file of SU2 ??

Thanks for your question.
The quick answer is that with TIME_STEPPING the simulation marches forward at the specified time step, and it is up to the user to determine what time step will be stable for the problem. (Some of the output in steady solutions regarding minimum DT is useful for this)
With DUAL_TIME_STEPPING, a sub-problem is solved between each major time step, which has convergence advantages.

See SU2 2013 paper : http://arc.aiaa.org/doi/pdf/10.2514/6.2013-287 for further details.
