I just installed SU2 on Windows, but now I am stuck at the very beginning and probably very basic for many people here. I try to follow the guides, but it seems I am not geek enough to understand them...

• So, after installing my files in C:\Program Files (x86)\SU2, where do I need to add quotes exactly? Do I need to add the quotes at the very beginning and very end as well?

NOTE: if the directory name contains white space, the executables may not work without appending ".exe", and the python scripts may not work. Additionally, when setting the enviornment variables and paths, quotes must be added, for example: "C:\Program Files"Stanford ADL"\SU2"

• I saved the quick start files under D:\SU2\QuickStart. How do I execute them now? Why would SU2 find my files if I just type "SU2_CFD inv_NACA0012.cfg" into cmd.exe?

Run the executable by entering "SU2_CFD inv_NACA0012.cfg" at the command line. If you have not set the $SU2_RUN environment variable you will need to run "../bin/SU2_CFD inv_NACA0012.cfg" a the command line.

Sorry for those very beginner questions, but for me, these guides are very hard to understand...

you can install virtual box and put an Ubuntu in that

If you are set on windows, you may find this reference helpful for learning to navigate the command line:

For the first part, I recommend installing to a location with no spaces in the directory path to avoid potential issues. If you are sticking with the directory as-is, as far as I know, you do not need to add quotes at the beginning and end, but you may end up needing to test out either.

For the second part, you must navigate to the folder holding your config and mesh files from within the command line, and then execute the 'SU2_CFD <your config file name>' comand.
