Hi community,

I'm trying to use SU2 to study my own air-foil and wing. I had install the last version of SU2 in ubuntu and I did some tutorial. In this moment I want to test my air-foil in SU2 but I don't know how I do.
How I put my air-foil in SU2 program? Is it possible SU2 generate an automatic mesh for my cause?

Thanks a lot,
João Lourenço

Hi,

there is no mesh generator included in SU2.
The standard way to import an own mesh into SU2 is to export it as a CGNS file, which then can be read by SU2 by setting the option
Code:
MESH_FORMAT= CGNS
in the configuration file.

Best regards,
Ole

Yes, that's the usual way.
But let me just mention that by now there a mesh generators that can directly export the mesh in .su2-format (like gmsh), so in these cases there is no need for the transfer via CGNS.

So gmsh is it a good mesh generated? Is it better to use gmsh instead pointwise or it is more easy to use?

Thanks a lot for the help.

Gmsh has very basic functionality, Pointwise is a professional and commercial program. You can't compare them.

There are lots of(!) meshing tools out there. You'll have to try out a few if you have never worked with any of these kind of programs before - each one has it's very own advantages and disadvantages.
