SU2 URANS & Turbulent Flows

Hi,

I have been using SU2 for two months now and as far as RANS simulations go, SU2 is quite useful and user-friendly. However, I'm having dificulties working on unsteady simulations.

I tried out both time-stepping and dual-time-stepping options but it seems the code fails to simulate an unsteady flow simulation. I have tried out various combinations of discretization schemes with various boundary conditions but the result is the same: the solution starts as unsteady but at some point there is no change in flow variables and the solution seem to become steady. To give you a clue about what I am working on, I study transonic and supersonic cavity flows, and by nature, this type of flow is unsteady and highly turbulent so I expect a URANS solution with everchanging contours.

I kindly ask the community (who have used SU2 URANS) to give me some clues. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
