Hello,

Does anybody know how to calculate the local temperature on the wall of an airfoil using SU2?

Thank you for considering my request!

Hi there,

if you run a compressible simulation, a (gas) energy equation is a natural part of the game.
If you prescribe a heatflux on the airfoil's wall - which seems to be the case - you can extract the corresponding temperature there from the flow solution file (the one SU2_SOL generates, Tecplot and Paraview ones are available).

Does this answer your question?

Regards, Ole

Thank you for your answer. Is it possible to model an internally heated airfoil in SU2?

Thank you!

Soon it will be possible (rather think of months than years).

These kind of multi-zone problems (e.g. heat transport from a solid body into a fluid) are commonly referred to as "conjugate heat transfer".
I am currently working on these but all of them involve the incompressible solver (as I am mostly concerned with liquids).

However, changing the solver from the incompressible to the compressible one is just a matter of changing a few lines of code.
And since the compressible side provides the much cooler test cases like turbine blades for example, I will definitely give it a try .

If you PM me your mail address, I can send you an update when things are ready to use and pushed to a feature branch.

Kind regards, Ole
