Hello,

I'm still fairly new to SU2, so apologies if this is an obvious question. I was wondering how the suffix of history file is set? I had a look through the SU2 pages and found the following on https://github.com/su2code/SU2/wiki/Post-processing:

history.dat or history.csv: file containing the convergence history information.

However, I notice that I also get a history.vtk in some runs. I'm aware that the convergence log name is set by the .cfg file but what determines the suffix (.dat, .csv, .vtk)? Is it set by the output format?

I hope I'm posting in the right sub-forum!

Hi tijm,

the extension is determined by the option OUTPUT_FORMAT. If it is TECPLOT you get a *.dat file and for PARAVIEW a *.csv file.

Hi, Tim,

Thanks for the message. when the output is set to PARAVIEW, I get the 'vtk' extension (history.vtk) but it is indeed a file of comma separated values. Will the format stay consistent for this version?

Many thanks,
Tim
