Hi all,

When I'm trying to optimize ONERA M6 wing using the mesh file with FFD information made by myself, it always diverged in the second step

So I compared the mesh file with FFD Box information made by myself with the mesh_ONERAM6_inv_FFD.su2 offered on the official website, I found there's a lot difference in the FFD_SURFACE_POINTS, I think that made the difference of the result of optimization.

Does anyone know what's the meaning of "FFD_SURFACE_POINTS" in the mesh file? And what option can I do to control the value of it in the .cfg file?

Thank you!

This section in the mesh file is related to the FFD Box. When creating the box with SU2_DEF and DV_KIND=FFD_SETTING the parametric coordinates of each point on the surface within the FFD box are computed and this information is then stored in the mesh file under FFD_SURFACE_POINTS in order to use during the deformation.

Hope thats helps a little bit, if you need further info, let me know.

Thank you Tim!

I think my understanding about "FFD_SURFACE_POINTS" is same as yours.

But my puzzle is what setting in the configuration file that can change the information under "FFD_SURFACE_POINTS"? Because when I set the mesh file with FFD Box by myself (that have the same parameters of FFD control points as mesh_ONERAM6_inv_FFD.su2 offered on the official website), the information under "FFD_SURFACE_POINTS" is a lot different with same information in mesh_ONERAM6_inv_FFD.su2. I think this may lead to my optimization problem :/
