Hello all,
I'm an aeronautical engineering student and I'm new to CFD,
I want to do CFD analysis with my own mesh generated with gmsh.
I converted it in su2 mesh file and I utilize the same configuration file of inviscid onera m6 wing. Only difference in configuration file are markers: I utilize only one marker 'WING' for all the wing surface instead of ' UPPER_SIDE, LOWER_SIDE, TIP'.

I use NACA 0012 profile for tip and root, chord 0.5 m for tip and root and 1 m and 2 m of span my tip is closed with a plane surface (marked WING also).

I attach photos my mesh

tip_detail.jpg
prolile_detail_2.jpg)

It is made by 2 millions elements, the mesh is more fine near tip and leading edge.
Distance and characteristic length from far field are similar to the onerama m6 provided mesh.

Hope somebody could help me,
I attach config file, photos of my mesh, my geo gmsh file, and SU2_CDF log files.

wing_geo.txt

configuration_file_cfg.txt

log_CFD.txt

The attached configuration files work with the provided onera m6 mesh and didn't works with mine, I've tried also at mach 0.3.

Thanks a lot.

Can you try with the multigrid turned off? (In the cfg file, set MGLEVEL=0). We worked on 3-d wings earlier and it took us a few trials to get the multigrid parameters right and experienced similar blow-ups with the 'wrong' parameters. Maybe the settings you are using is the problem. You can also try experimenting with different multigrid settings to get it right.

Here is an older thread where it is explained in more detail

Thank you akoodlyr for your post,
I've tried with multigrid off but it diverge anyway.

My problem is that I utilize a program gmsh2su2 to convert my .msh grid into .su2 grid.
The SU2_DEF works correctly but not SU_CFD.
Now exporting in .su2 directly by gmsh all works fine also the optimization using shape_optimization.py works fine.

I'm very happy using su2.
