Output forces_breakdown.dat once converged

Hey SU2 users/developers,

It seems that SU2 (V6.1.0) only outputs the forces_breakdown.dat at intervals defined by WRT_SOL_FREQ, so if the solution converges far from this interval, the forces_breakdown file is irrelevant data.

Is it possible to output the forces file once the solution is converged as standard? Or is there a command to output this file? It doesn't seem to be included in the SU2_SOL script.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Kind Regards,

Nathan

Same issue with Turbomachinery result files

Dear SU2 Users,

It seems a colleague of mine has ran into the same issue on the most recent release, but in this case with the Turbomachinery output files (inflow/outflow results, etc). These files seem to be written at Iteration 0, but if you don't reach a WRT_SOL_FREQ point, it never writes it again.

Is there a way to make SU2 write the forces_breakdown and Turbomachinery files once converged?

I got around this by using the history file to get CL and CD (as forces_breakdown wasn't reliable), but this isn't possible for all details contained in the turbomachinery folder.

Thanks in advance,
Kind Regards,
Nathan Ricks

Hi Nathan,
I've run into this before... The output structure of SU2 is currently being refactored for version 7, I'll try to keep an eye on this when the pull request is opened.
In the meantime you can restart the simulation and run one iteration to get the correct values.
Regards,
Pedro

Hi Pedro,

Thanks for the reply, at least it's not just something I've done then. Will look into the 1 iteration way.

Thank you!
Kind Regards,
Nathan
