Hi guys, I am trying to figure out how to put this NRBC BC for nozzle flow at outlet end? Because I am trying to put NRBC BC but that's not working so trying for GILES if that works. Can someone suggest why this latest SU2 is not support NRBC marker? I saw in one post that this marker was earlier version but not in this latest one. Please can someone suggest.

Error in "void CConfig::SetConfig_Parsing(char*)":
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
MARKER_NRBC: invalid option name. Check current SU2 options in config_template.cfg.

I am working on nozzle flow (supersonic at outlet end and trying to put non reflective BC at outlet)

Hi,

Thanks for using SU2 and bringing us your question. Unfortunately, I dont know alot about the Giles BC. I do believe it works, but I do not think it was implemented for outlets. I apologize I cant be more help, but I will ask around.

A work around to your solution, if your outflow is fully supersonic, you can use supersonic_outlet. In this case all the characteristics will be exiting boundary. BC_Outlet will serve the same purpose with subsonic flow as well.

I apologize I cant be more help. Please let me know if I can help anymore.

Thank you for your reply!

So I am already using supersonic_outlet BC, but seeing these pressure waves reflecting back. Trying even riemann BC if that may work, Because GILES BC (looks like only work for Turbomachinery) and NRBC (SU2 latest version does not support NRBC markers).

But still there must be some way in SU2 we can put no reflecting BC at outlet end? Appreciate your suggestions for the same...

TIA

You can trick SU2 to run in turbomachinery mode by providing relevant turbomachinery markers and use MARKER_GILES for both inlet and outlet.

I tried to trick it with BC marker same like turbo-machinery, its just so many internal in the codes which is only relevant to turbo machinery for GILES BC which is not going through.

I know from some other post for non reflecting BCs we have NRBC BC as well. Is any other way to put Non reflective BC in SU2 code?

Hey Monica,

Just to be sure you have to specify

TURBOMACHINERY_KIND = AXIAL
MARKER_TURBOMACHINERY= (INLET, OUTLET)

if you have already done this and it did not work, then it is strange.

Thanks,
Nitish

Thank you Nitin! After trying with this GILES BC for my nozznle jet flow, it didn't work out well. So I implemented sponges by modifying the SU2 code . So now getting stabilized mean flow. thank you for your help!
