I am looking for an open source CFD solver too model two component flow and combustion in high speed compressible flow (ramjet propulsion). I have explored openFoam but the solvers take too long to solve a steady state problem. Our lab has started exploring SU2 and I have found conflicting data as to whether SU2 can model 2 component flow and combustion.

Does anybody know:

1. If SU2 can model 2 component flow with combustion?
2. If any branches exists with this capability even if it is not an official release?
3. If any labs are working to extend SU2 with this capability?

SU2 has no capability to solve species transport and reactions at the moment. Developer guys may give more information about roadmap and extensions.

With 2-component flow do you mean fuel and air and a one-step reaction?

There is some scalar transport available in the branch feature_scalar. There is also some work being done on combustion (flamelet modeling) but it is not publicly available yet. There is no work being done on one-step Arrhenius-type chemistry but you might be able to add this to the scalar transport model.

There actually is work being done to include species transport, with finite rate (Arrhenius) chemistry in SU2. That being said, it is still in the development process (feature_TNE2). It has been created for hypersonic flows, so im not sure how to couple it with combustion at the moment.
