Hello Everyone,

I am new to the software SU2 and currently working on the multizone problem for a multi-stage compressor.

I have used the current version 8.1.0 (Harrier) but it does not have discrete
equations solving ability for turbomachinery! It is still under development hence I cannot use it.

I also have tried Version 7.0.6 (Blackbird) and when I run the SU2_CFD_AD command it states that "The required solver doesn't support multizone simulations".

Can someone guide me with the version of SU2 that I can use for my multizone problem for multi-stage compressor?

Best,
Akash

Hi,
As you have seen, this implementation is under active development to get the solver and adjoint up to date from the previous implementation. You could try the branch feature_mz_adjoint_for_turbo

that is being discussed here:

https://github.com/su2code/SU2/pull/2317

It looks like it is functional, although there is some room for improvement regarding the adjoint sensitivities. You could join slack and the developer meetings if you would like to discuss with the developers directly how to use this and where there might still be issues.

The adjoints for turbomachinery is currently broken in main release, the PR linked by Nijso is attempting to fix this but I wouldn't reccomend trying to use it as it is not fully validated and still requires some work. The best option if you want to use out of the box is the branch feature_turbomachinery, it is a very old version (v5) so the documentation may be a bit thin on the ground.

Thanks for your reply guys.
Yeah, I have to work around the installation, too, since v5 is Python2-based, which is pretty much outdated. I will look into it and proceed with my problem, as I believe that for now, it's better to shift to a single zone first.
