Hi everyone,
I would like to ask whether the current SU2 FFD (Free-Form Deformation) module supports mapping the mesh using predefined control points. I came across a post from 2015 discussing a similar issue: In some cases, especially when the geometry has high curvature, there can be significant gaps between the surface to be mapped and the FFD box defined by corner points and their linearly iterated control points. In such scenarios, objective functions or constraints may be insensitive to the coordinates of control points far from the surface. Optimizers might then make large changes to these coordinates, possibly resulting in strange surface deformations in test cases. Has this issue been resolved in the current version of SU2, or are there alternative methods available to address it? ![]() |
