Simulation of 2d heat conduction using iterative solvers in implicit and explicit met

Hi guys, first of all i m a newbie here.And i have a situation where i have written codes for 2D heat conduction pde in octave .And the issue im facing is my SOR method is takin more number of iterations than gauss seidel or jacobi in the implicit scheme.My dt is 1e-4 ,dx is 0.05,thermal diffusivity is 1 and cfl number is less than 1.If u know please explain why this is happening? How to understand and perform stability analysis based on dx and dt,alpha( i.e thermal diffusivity).My relaxation factor is 1,1.5 and 1.7.How to choose a perfect over relaxation value explanation is also appreciated?
Apologies if im not followin the guidelines and would like to be corrected for better writing next time.

SOR should usually converge faster, I am not sure how to help without seeing the code..

Hi there,thank you for the reply and time .i figured out that my sor solver was containing a small mistake which i figured out and now its working according to its criterion.Can we be i touch as i m a learner and constantly working on CFD( matlab and openfoam projects) thay would mean a lot to me.And by the by, i couldnt figure out what your name is!
