I am currently using tecplot 360 fully functional trial version. According to the pdf manual the slices can be constrained by selecting the contraint option in slice>detail>constrain tab.

I am not able to find the constrain tab here. i can find all the other mentioned tabs, but the not this one. It would be great if someone could direct me towards the solution.

The constrained slice feature is not available in Tecplot 360 EX.However, it is available in Tecplot 360 2013.So one option is to download & install 360 2013 from this page: http://www.tecplot.com/my/product-releases/ .

As an fyi … the trial key will run this older version, and you can have both 360 2013 and 360 EX 2015 on your computer without conflict (so you can compare the two versions).

If you do a comparison, you will notice that the two versions have different UIs. Tecplot has updated the UI for 360 EX (and this is most noticeable for Linux and Mac versions). Constrained slicing will be a capability for 360 EX in the future, but I don’t have a date when that will happen.

I would like to do the same thing whats happening in the video in Techplot 2014 and 2015 but the options seem totally different,

can you please tell me how to extract constrained slices in 2014 & 2015

The constrained slice feature is not available Tecplot 360 EX 2014, 2015 ,and 2016. However you may find this macro will meet your requirements (with the proper edits on for your application)
