Surface Area

Hi,

I am trying to compute the chocked flow area of my results. On a program I interpolated for the coordinates for Mach one. Is there a way to get Tecplot to compute each individual cell area? Or maybe simpler, is there a way to get it to compute the entire surface area for Mach 1 from the entire solution?

Thank you! Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

One suggestion is to extract an isosurface of Mach 1 to a new zone. Then via the Tecplot 360 menu go to Analyze>>Perform Integration then select “Length/Area/Volume” to find the surface area of the extracted isosurface zone.

Genias Graphics, the European distributor of Tecplot, has created a nice recording of their webinar on post-processing measured (wind tunnel and PIV) aero data in Tecplot. Here is a link to that recording: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/491891489 . The meat of the webinar starts at around 2:30 where he reviews loading test data and creating an I,J,K ordering so that Tecplot understands the connectivity between the data. At around the 19 minute mark, the presenter shifts to showing Tecplot Chorus which is designed to plot, manage, and understand groups of plots for a given project.

You may find the plotting practices presented in the webinar of help to your work.

could you please tell me, how can we check the unit of output value of “Length/Area/Volume” if the domain is in 'm'.

Tecplot does not track nor change the type of units of a variable. So if the data started in "m" (or meters), then the results will be in meters.
